Trigger events for addressing MRO supply chain issues are varied. It could be new plant leadership, lost production time or implementation of a new CMMS or EAM systems where hard questions get asked about processes surrounding the MRO supply chain.
For one large manufacturing company in the United States, all of those factors were true. As leadership worked to address the MRO challenge, they saw a truly chaotic situation at the plant level. After initially recognizing the issues surrounding the management of spare parts, particularly a lack of visibility, the company sought outside expertise to better manage the MRO supply chain. It wasn’t until the third-party integrator came aboard that the answers began to click into place.
