During the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) annual conference last week in Orlando, I had the opportunity to talk with many different reliability experts involved in food processing, life sciences and pharmaceuticals, paper products, metals, chemicals, petrochemicals, and more. Many of the discussions were brief but revealing. They all struggle with the MRO supply chain and managing critical MRO spares. Whether it’s in purchasing, engineering, maintenance or something else, each of the individuals I spoke with are looking for answers.
One of the more consistent themes of the discussions involved asset services. For us, that involves services related to plant reliability, asset hierarchy development, bills of materials, etc. Every one of the individuals I spoke to is looking to improve their part of the manufacturing process – maintenance effectiveness, plant reliability, production, etc. They understand that MRO spare parts play a role but they are unsure where to start.
Perhaps a free webinar is a good first step. On Nov. 8, in a free webinar hosted by Industrial Maintenance and Plant Operations (IMPO), Steve Clayton, Reliability Engineer, shares his experience in a presentation on “Managing Critical Spares to Achieve Plant Reliability.” During the presentation Steve discuss how improperly managing critical MRO spares impacts a company’s drive to establish effective plant reliability programs. He explores the reasons and offers multiple ways to ease some of that pain.
It’s a timely topic, given the discussions last week in Orlando. Join us. Watch here.
We’ll see you Nov. 8.
